Montgomery County, MD 250th anniversary

We all have reasons to celebrate or not celebrate the 250th anniversary of our county. Many people may have asked themselves, "What is there for me or my community. Many people may have asked themselves, "What is there for me or my community to celebrate?" Or, "What is one significant event that has happened over the past 250 years in Montgomery County that I want to celebrate?"

Maybe it is something your ancestors passed down to you.

Maybe it happened in your lifetime or in the past 5–10 years.

Maybe one of your relatives attended one of the 17 Rosenwald schools established in Montgomery County in the county during the 1920s and ’30s.

Perhaps you are celebrating the establishment of your community that still exists today, or that exists only in pictures and stories passed down from your

ancestors, or whose story has been told in a recent video.

Whatever the reason(s), please send us one or two sentences about what you plan to celebrate and why. Please send your entry to MoCoLMP by Nov. 1, 2026.
