BlackRock Center for the Arts

12901 Town Commons Dr., Germantown

Sunday, November 15 from 3-5 p.m.

You are warmly invited to join MoCoLMP at our commemoration of Montgomery County’s 250th anniversary.

Chris Haley, director of the Study of the Legacy of Slavery in Maryland at the Maryland State Archives and the nephew of Roots author Alex Haley, will be the featured speaker.

You will also be able to view MoCoLMP’s “It Happened Here” photo exhibit and learn about our history project, "Tracing Freedom," which maps sites of enslavement and historic Black communities of Montgomery County.

Enjoy poetry, music led by Elise Bryant—director of the DC Labor Chorus—and refreshments. Take advantage of the chance to meet others in conversation circles, aimed at finding ways we can all take steps towards racial reckoning and reconciliation.

You will emerge energized and inspired! We hope to see you there.

Co-sponsored by the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project and the Montgomery County Commission on Remembrance and Reconciliation.
